Cliche Exhibition @ Traffic

Cliché, simply put is a sheet of A1 paper that promotes urban/underground art culture in the Middle East. The zine* acts as a gallery space every month, showcasing the works of two of the best artists from the urban art scene.
An exhibition was held on June 12th at Traffic Gallery in Dubai. It was a showcase of Boxes, Prints, Posters and the Zine."

Exhibition Featured : {ths} / Aditya / Alia / Altamash / Amrit / Archan / Arezu / Arisu / Avi / Bastard Project / Bhavya / BrownMonkeys / Caio / Cima / Daniel / Dhanya / Diya / Elmaee / James / Lina / Neena / Noel / Payal / Rami / Renata / Rita / Rob / Sangeeta / Sarah / Shaxeb / Vivek (project organiser and participant)

The gallery was converted into an ambient zine including one-off prints and installations Рthe gallery transformed into a live version of the zine. Limited edition bespoke boxes commissioned by local designers were on sale Рeach containing the back copies of Clich̩.

So after almost 2 months of working spare weekends on the boxes/canvas and a week of setting up at the gallery, the night had finally arrived. It was exciting and stressful at the same time but it all went well and we all had a great time.
The best part was doing the Live Mural where all the featured artists could doodle stuff while people watched in anticipation. Then everyone joined in adding stickers, and comments on existing doodles. It was really cool. I think the bug has bitten; another exhibition is in order. Watch this space...Lomography exhibition coming soon! Ren x

P.S. Credit must also go to Matt for all his manly help with all the manly drills, jigsaws and general brain power. Thanks babe!

Night of 1000 Drawings

Some friends of mine back in Johannesburg (Legion Collective) started an awesome project called 'Night of 1000 Drawings'.

Basically anyone can submit drawings, doodles, paintings, photographs, anything as long as it's A5 in size. The pieces are for sale on exhibition night and all the cash goes to a charity for the homeless (Paballo). Each one of these events have been a huge success and i'm always keen to fight the cause. If you are too, check them out:

Nomad

The name Nomad was proposed for a mobile satellite technology product that enabled people to watch, listen and interact with their favourite shows and audio/radio on their mobile phone.

The “O” in Nomad serves as a mobile phone screen with the number buttons below. This becomes a stylized, interactive and memorable icon that can be used and adapted within the identity.

The brand categories can be differentiated by different colour usage, with the category name beneath, i.e, chat, movies, music etc...Simple, relevant and instantly recognisable icons of these various categories can be used as shortcuts or areas where space is limited. These help create a fun and engaging visual language for the brand.

This design element behind the logo is an additional element that can be used within the campaign. They are never the same and give the notion, like the name ‘Nomad’ suggests, of movement. To be used in areas like the website, web banners and even print.
